UPDATE: 40-39 Rockets over Clippers at the half

UPDATE: Why is it that everyone and his mom wears some kind of arm sleeve now?

Hmmm. Well Yao just made a really good curl and then pass to Scola but unfortunately he ran over someone on his way…

Hayes?

Some pretty cool things happened last night. Ray Allen beat the Bobcats, Stan Van Gundy beat Pat Riley, and for about two seconds of my life I thought Chuck Hayes was going to dunk the basketball. Alas, instead of fulfilling one of my all-time dreams Ol’ Chucky merely dropped in a butt-ugly layup which, for him, is actually quite an accomplishment in and of itself but it did leave me wanting more….

But the Rockets left nothing to be desired (except perhaps a decent 3-point percentage) in their 109-81 thrashing of the 9-5 Denver Nuggets Saturday night at the Toyota Center to return themselves to the .500 mark. Tracy Mcgrady was back to his MVP caliber self as he calmly scored 35 points and grabbed 5 boards while going 13-for-23 from the field. Yao added 22 points and 13 rebounds and Shane Battier tossed a season high 12 rebounds into the mix to help Houston dominate the Nuggets 57-38 on the boards.

Luis Scola and Steve Francis both had strong stints off the bench with Scola scoring only 5 points but pulling down 8 boards 5 of which came on the offensive glass. Francis played 20 minutes in just his second game this season but had respectable line of 10 points 4 rebounds 3 assists 2 steals and 1 block.

Rookie Carl Landry saw his first action of the season, coming in to score 4 points to go along with 2 rebounds in just over 4 minutes of play.

Oh yeah and Bonzi has another boo-boo (right ankle bruise)
