<intro>
$22Million, 843 Thousand, 124 Dollars Now thats a big number, Is that a sighting of Tracy McGrady back on the Houston Rockets, joining this scrappy quad lead by Trevor Ariza. Now if wasn’t a NBA fan and new about McGrady going down (injury) and then the trade that swapped Ron Artest for Trevor Ariza. I would have that just looking at the team that is what Tracy McGrady out there as usually doing the same thing he’s being doing keeping us just close enough to make the playoffs and then out we go. Lets not dive into that pain, But let me say again that’s Trevor $5Million 854 Thousand, 000 Dollars Ariza for those who don’t know.

I’m not saying that it’s bad that McGrady is back, I only hope that he will help improve this already good team. Then there is the butt, obviously the word over paid comes to mind when I look at just the roster of this team : http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/teams/roster?team=HouTracy McGrady makes almost as much as the whole roster minus Yao Ming of course which they have been minus. This team has a bright future with its too biggest stars to return to the lineup. Another year as the pressure begins to mount and mounts on Tracy McGrady’s shoulders (some would say fragile shoulders). This team takes on the NBA’s best the Lakers and barely loose by one in overtime (11/4/09). Now I am now trying to crown this squad championship ready or anything yet, but they play tough and win games.

All the credits to Rick Adelman and his staff for this young squad (average age 26.4) have a nice push out the gate off to a 14-11 start only behind Dallas in the division. I have to mention one shout out to the rook Chase Budinger who has been playing some good ball.

    <intro>
The Houston Rockets are the most unluckiest team in the league. How can a team with so much promise have this much trouble? This is a team on the raise but can't get above the fray because of injuries.

First, it was their center Yao Ming getting hurt in playoff game against the eventual world champion L.A. Lakers, before that, they lost their best player Tracey McGrady. McGrady is a great player, but doesn't seem to get as much recognition as he deserves because he STAYS injured.

But I give McGrady credit for being mentally tough because rumor has it that he was upset at the Rocket management for not letting him come back sooner. McGrady had major surgery in February to repair a microfracture, but a decision has not been made about his return.

McGrady was suppose to undergo an MRI on his surgically repaired left knee late last week which he has reportedly said is “irrelevant,” but that the Rockets wanted to review the MRI before any decision on his return was made.

“It’s not going to tell them whether I can play or not,” McGrady said. True, but I'm sure the Rockets are not willing to take a risk on their star player not able to make it back EVER. McGrady's decision on whether he should play soon or not shouldn't be left up to him.

And even if he does come back before Christmas or at the beginning of the New Year, McGrady has said himself in interviews that he'll have to get back into rhythm with his teammates which may take a few games.

Even when he does come back, they still have the Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs ahead of them.

The Spurs, like the Rockets have struggled this season at times despite only behind a few games behind the Mavericks themselves.

San Antonio has won five straight to stay in second place behind the Mavs. Tim Ducan has led the team in scoring in six of their last eight games. Mostly against the deadbeats of the league. The true test for the the Spurs is coming up as they play Boston and the Denver Nuggets who are next on their schedule.

The question for the Spurs is; has their window of opportunity closed or is closing for them to play or win an NBA Championship. The Spurs no longer have to just worry about just facing the Lakers any more, they now have to worry about the Mavs, the Nuggets, New Orleans, Portland and of course the Rockets. Not to mention the resurgence of the Suns.

Tim Ducan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili have been the nucleus of this team for years, but if they plan to keep the ball rolling so to speak and they better not let these other teams get too far ahead of them or they will be an also ran in the Western Division. Although the New Orleans Hornets clearly have made strides over the years with Chris Paul, they are about to become an also ran in the West if they don't get it together soon.

Age is starting to take its toll on this team despite them managing to hang around the division and quite frankly, it's only a matter of team before the Spurs have to start thinking about either replacing their star players or adding new faces to this aging team.

Well find out this week how far the Spurs have fallen if any against the Celtics and Nuggets and if they are where most experts think they are, then they need to start making adjustments before they become the forgotten team in the Western Division.

    <intro>
I have been a die hard Rockets fan since i was a little kid. My fondest memories from my childhood were watching the Rockets win back to back championships.

Those teams were built around team basketball, good coaching, and a guy name Olajuwon. This year's Rockets team reminds me of those championship teams of the past.

This Rockets team may not have any proven stars like Olajuwon or Drexler but this team does have that "team first" mentality. I will admit that when I heard Yao Ming is out for the season with a foot injury and the uncertainty surronding Tracy McGrady and his two microfracture surgeries and Ron Artest jumping ship to the Lakers that the Rockets chances at the playoffs was over.

I went to the first home game on halloween and boy did the Rockets prove me wrong. Trevor Ariza looked like a bargain with his 33 points. Aaron Brooks looks like he understands the offense and distributed the ball well. Luis Scola and Chuck Hayes played their usual scrappy style of basketball and did a good job guarding Greg Oden and LaMarcus Alridge. The bench was solid with good contributions from Kyle Lowry and Carl Landry. The leadership, toughness, and defense of Shane Battier is always going to be there as it was on halloween.

What opening night showed me was that you can never count out these resilient group of guys. Daryl Morey and Rick Adelman know what they are doing and have not given up on making the playoffs and winning a championship. This Rockets team will surprise many people this season. Houstonians should be proud to have a team like this, who knows, maybe it will be a repeat of that 93-94 team.
</intro>

With hair like a Greek god and a face only mother could love, Luis Scola, has captured fans’ hearts with his hustle and never-give-in demeanor.

          The 6’9” Argentinean forward has been turning heads ever since he was first acquired from the San Antonio Spurs in the summer of 2007. Both hustle and heart gave Scola the starting job in Houston midway through the season and eventually ended his rookie campaign averaging 10.3 ppg as well as 6.4 rpg.

In the 08-09 NBA regular season, the shaggy haired warrior averaged 12.7 ppg and 8.8 rpg, on way to the playoffs and a first round series win over the Portland Trailblazers. However, after a hard fought series against the now defending champions, the Los Angeles Lakers; the Houston Rockets were edged in 7 games, injured, fatigued, and left wanting for more.

Now, as the season approaches, the mop headed hardnosed Argentinean forward shifts roles. Yao Ming is out and Tracy McGrady is a huge question mark. This leaves Scola as the go-to guy in the paint for Houston. With fans as well as coaches, hoping for the same production that Scola showed earlier in his international career. One thing is for certain, Luis Scola will in every sense of the word, play, and PLAY HARD.

He is as tough as nails and as solid as a rock. In this upcoming season, Scola must continue to lead by example with his determination. And his hair.
</intro>

With the tip-off of the NBA regular season right around the corner I decided to review every team and choose one player from each squad that needs to pack their bags and move on. The Eastern Conference is up first so let’s jump right in:

Eastern Conference

· Boston Celtics- the Celtics have a pretty solid unit this year but after careful research I think it’s time for Tony Allen to pack his bags. Yes, his defense and off-screen cuts are solid but combine his injuries with inconsistent shooting and the Celtics could part with him. Perhaps in exchange for some youth that could bring a spark off the bench.

· New Jersey Nets- It may not happen during the first month or so but Rafer Alston should defiantly not get comfortable in New Jersey. He’s a solid veteran, who could contribute right away to any team in the hunt for a ring. In return the Nets should try to get a young prospect or a future draft pick or two.

· New York Knicks- the Knicks want cap space, then it’s a no-brainer to trade the slow Eddy Curry out of Mike D’Antoni’s system. While giving this a lot of thought I came to a reasonable trade. Eddy Curry and Larry Hughes for Miami Heat forward Jermaine O’Neal. The Knicks get their cap space while the Heat recieve a solid guard and a post player at the center position. Might be enough to make Wade stay.

The only way 76ers get this trade done is with picks and possibly a three team trade, maybe for a pure point guard.

Let’s face it; the Bucks aren’t going anywhere this season. So they might as well start to rebuild and hope for a splash in next summer’s free agency. Get back a rising star or a high pick Bucks fans.

    <intro>
              Tracy Mcgrady can shoot over any defender, guard any player, and attack the basket at will but can he stay on the court?

With training camp fast appoaching, most teams are finalizing thier rosters or trying to clear up as much cap space as possible. With most players trying to get into basketball shape or make the cut.

But among all the players in and around the NBA one person has been criticized far too much. His name is Tracy Mcgrady. He's a seven time All-Star with a scoring title under his belt but for the last two seasons he's been injured, and seemingly out of touch with the player he once was.

Under new found trainer Tim Grover, "the same man that recreated Dwanye Wade", can T-mac really make a comeback?. Over the course of the summer Tracy has been doing everything Grover has asked and fully commited himself to stengthing different parts of his body to develop a stonger core. He's way ahead of schedule from his micro-fracture knee surgery and is now contemplating a return at the beginning of training camp instead of after the all-star weekend.

Forget what you have heard and pay no attention to the nay-sayers. Tracy Mcgrady is on a mission and all who stand in his way better be careful. Yes, i believe he will comeback healthy and focused with an attitude of redemption but how long will it last is the question. He's past thirty and has been in the NBA awhile. With all that wear and tear can he achieve a full season?.

It is TIME for results and until the season starts we won"t know. So for all the hopeful Tracy fans as well as the T-mac haters be patient til we see what happens,......... then rub it in each others faces.

hey guys first article i've written, tell me what u think and lend me some tips. Thanks
</intro>

Coach Adelman, this is Houston, we have a problem. We have a 7 foot 6 inch tower in the middle of the lane that we’re not using. It seems to be just taking up space on offense, and it seems that despite it’s presence in the low post for the past 7 years, we still haven’t figured out exactly how to use it to our advantage. You see the real problem is, the only way that the tallest player in the league can get his hands on the ball is by rebounding. It’s amazing to watch, this man who towers over everyone in the post typically opposite where the ball is, watching teammate after teammate jack up poor shots.

            While watching the third game in a series that may stretch out to seven games total between the Lakers and Rockets I can’t help but wonder…the Rockets do realize Yao is 7’6” don’t they? I mean yes, he’s human. Sure, I’ve seen him blocked before (once by Kobe tonight in what was truly an amazing defensive play) but still, he’s a giant. There was a time in this league that it was widely believed you simply couldn’t win a title without a dominant big man. For many years the league was essentially run by the likes of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bill Russell, and George Mikan. Years later we saw players such as Hakeem Olajuwon and David Robinson lead their teams to NBA titles. More recently Shaquille O’Neal left everyone’s mouths gaping with shattered glass, broken backboards, and ultimately four titles (as of the writing of this article). What I’d like to know is where have those days gone?

            With the athleticism of many of the players currently entering the NBA, it seems as if the value of lining up a human skyscraper has fallen by the wayside. The likes of Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, and others with similar skill sets have not taken away from the talent of the larger players, but instead has erased them from the game plan entirely. The proven philosophy of pounding the ball down low and beating the other team up in the post has become a clear second to the electrifying and dare-devilish moves smaller and more athletic players are able to pull off.

            I have several problems with this and they’ve almost all been displayed for us here in the first three games of this series. In Game 1 we saw Yao post 28 points in the process of stealing a game from the Lakers on LA’s home court. In Game 2 we saw the Rockets almost completely ignore their low post offensive power, as he only took 4 shots from the field and was held to 12 points while still grabbing 10 rebounds (3 offensive). Now the Rockets enter Game 3, and most would think they’d surely learned their lesson. Those of us who might be tempted to think that however, are soon shocked to see Ron Artest jack up three point shot after three point shot, and watch Aaron Brooks do everything in his power to not only keep the ball away from Yao, but keep it off his side of the court entirely! Yao must have been growing impatient as we all watched him start really getting aggressive on the offensive boards, cleaning the glass to the tune of 6 offensive rebounds as we near the end of the game. The sad thing is, he had to do this just to get a shot. In the final minutes of this game it seems as if someone reminded Coach Adelman what worked for him in Game 1 and they began to try to push that ball back down to Yao in the post and shockingly-began seeing that lead the Lakers had shrink.

            As I watch the end of this game, a game that will almost surely go to the Lakers and allow them to go up 2-1 in the best of seven series, I wonder if now that Yao seems to have finally come to the realization that he’s 7’6”, will his team ever figure that out? Will there be a time in the near future that we’ll see another team that reverts back to that old philosophy of pounding the ball down low or is this style of play a thing of the past? At what point will 7footers in the league have made a full circle from being the most sought after commodity in the NBA to being nothing more than obstacles in the way of smaller more athletic players on their way to a flashy slam dunk or layup
</intro>

After injuring his knee in a collision with Blazers Center Greg Oden, Rockets Center Dikembe Mutombo has announced his retirement.

"For me, basketball is over," he said.

"I've had a wonderful 18 years of staying injury-free, so I just want to go out with my head up, no regrets," he said.

"Dikembe is one of the statesmen of this league," Shane Battier said. "There's not a better guy. To see him in pain is tough to see. He cares so much about this game that he doesn't want to end his career like that. That's the tragedy of it, too."

Mutombo is an eight time all-star who has won the NBA's defensive player of the year four times.

In 1,196 career games, Mutombo has averaged 9.8 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.7 blocks, second all time.

He is perhaps known even more off the court with his humanitarian efforts. He founded the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation in 1997 to benefit the people of his homeland in the Congo, among others.

    <intro>
The Houston Rockets are on an incredible hot streak. They've won 22 games in a row in an incredible fashion, and they've won ten of those games without the services of their big man from the Far East, Yao Ming. This is all very impressive, and one would think that the Rockets would be on the fast track to being a contender in the West. Hold on a minute, Chuck.

             There are plenty of good reasons that Houston fans may have forgotten about to think that despite this current hot streak, the Rockets may not have what it takes to get out of the early rounds of the NBA playoffs. I mean, if they stay this hot, anything is certainly possible. Perhaps after a rocky start, this team has finally learned how to win, and things have finally come together. There is a point during any win streak where you have to ask yourself, is this just a hot streak, or is this team that good? I would say that at 22 games during the NBA season, you have to look at this team as just being good, rather than just being lucky. There are a few reasons why that isn't the case, though. The Lakers are a good reason to think that the Rockets aren't part of the elite class. With, whom many consider, the best player in the game, Kobe Bryant, on their squad, the Lakers are part of the West elite. Even though they've lost the services of Karl Malone, head coach Phil Jackson is a proven winner. And with a player as dynamic as Bryant, anything is possible, and this year it looks like it all is possible. The Spurs are another good reason why the Rockets are not amongst the elites of the West. Tim Duncan and company have quietly created a dynasty in San Antonio. They aren't flashy, they don't have a transcendent super star, but they go out and they win. And they've won more often than not in the past couple of years. Never count a team like the San Antonio Spurs out. If this is just a freak lucky streak for the Rockets, or if they are actually this good, it will make the Wild West in the NBA playoffs interesting to watch. Personally, I am hoping that Karl Malone pulls on his cowboy hat, and rolls down the highway on his eighteen wheeler to Houston in order to fill their big man needs and deliver them to the NBA Finals.
</intro>
